How can I shop early? Our consignors and volunteer workers shop first. Start pulling clothes and toys out of your closets and consign them so you can shop before the general public. Don’t have any goods to sell? No problem; you can volunteer to help us for either 4 or 8 hours and shop early even if you don't consign a single item. How often do you hold a sale? Children’s Market is a seasonal consignment sale, where you can get like-new children’s items at a fraction of the retail price. We have one sale for the spring and summer season and another for the fall and winter. Twice a year you get to clean out your clutter and stock up on great bargains. What payment methods do you accept? Cash, check (with ID), MasterCard, Visa, and debit cards are all accepted by Children’s Market. Do you charge for parking or admission? Nope. We never charge for parking or admission. Can I try on items at the sale? We don't provide dressing rooms. Consignors have entrusted their merchandise to us, so we have to keep an eye on it at all times. We encourage you to bring your child’s sizes and measurements with you instead. How do I carry items around while I'm shopping? We now have a limited number of shopping carts. You are welcome to bring a box, laundry basket, or stroller to assist you while shopping. Remember to get a stroller pass at the door if you bring your own stroller so we know it's yours and not one we're selling. What is consignment? We sell your items for you in exchange for a percentage of your sales. Children’s Market is a great way to make more money with less work than a garage sale, and you'll get a check sooner than selling items online. What items can I consign? Children’s Market accepts maternity, women's high-end clothing, baby, and children’s items that are in excellent condition, current style, and in season. Check out the details on the Items Accepted page. Who prices my items? As a standard consigner, you do! Most items should be priced at about 30% of the retail value. High-quality toys, baby equipment, and furniture are in high demand and will usually sell for around 50% of their retail price. Size 0 - 6 month clothing is usually abundant at the sale, so price it more conservatively to sell it. The minimum sale price is $2.50, but items of lesser value can be grouped together to meet the minimum. If the thought of pricing your items is intimidating, a busy mom option may be for you. Do you have a minimum or maximum number of items I can consign? No, you can enter as many items as you wish with the exception of women's clothing, 15 items only please. We do require a minimum of 15 items for you to qualify for a Consignor Pass to the Pre-Sale and Half-Price Sale. Do you GUARANTEE my items? Yes, we offer this as an option for our standard consignors. It just takes a little extra time and a few more steps than standard consignment, but it well worth it to have all your items guaranteed. Check out our Drop Off/Pick Up section for more details. What about a consignment fee? Bringing a large consignment sale to life is very expensive, and the Children's Market runs on a shoestring. To help defray the high cost of renting the sale location and advertising the event, we'll deduct a consignors fee from your final check to help us cover the basic costs. The consignor fee will be based on the total number of items checked into the Children's Market sale. There will be an $8.50 consignor fee for up to 149 items and a $12.50 consignor fee for 150 items or more. Can I bring someone to the Pre-Sale with me? Yes, consignors can bring one immediate family member with them to help them shop the Pre-Sale. Please play fair and don't bring someone who's shopping for themselves. Thanks! Can I use wire hangers? Wire hangers are fine for clothes that actually fit on them. Wire hangers are a no-no for smaller garments because they stretch out the clothing. Please use children’s plastic hangers for sizes 10 and below. Will I get my hangers back? All clothes will be on a hanger, and we won't remove clothing from their hangers after purchase. So, your sold clothes and hangers are all going to a new home. But, if you buy clothes, you'll go home with those hangers. If you choose to pick up your unsold clothing after the sale is over, they'll still be on your hangers. What does a volunteer worker do? Some of the things we need our volunteers to help us with include setting up and breaking down the sales floor, assisting with merchandise intake, and sorting unsold merchandise for pick up. For a complete list of jobs and to choose your shift, visit our volunteer link. What perks do volunteer workers get? Work two shifts (8 hours) and you get to shop first; work one shift (4 hours) and shop two hours after the 8-hour workers. See the Volunteer/Consignor Incentives page for more details. Can I bring someone to the Worker Pre-Sale with me? Afraid not. Because workers are unpaid volunteers, the Worker Pre-Sale is an incentive restricted to those angels alone. (How else could we get them to work for us?) But, here's your consolation prize: You get two guest passes for a special early shopping time! Whoopie! See the Sale Location and Schedule page for times. Can my husband work instead of or along with me? Absolutely! We welcome macho assistance, and we especially need lots of muscle power during our set-up and break-down days.
